Cooperalls - Hockey's forgotten style shame

Cooperalls FAIL.

Cooperalls are the name synonymous with the long padded hockey pants created by Cooper and discontinued in the 80’s. Some of you may remember them, some of you may have actually owned a pair. At one point in the early 80’s both the Philadelphia Flyers and the Hartford Whalers adopted them as official NHL uniform! Many kids playing around then wore them too.

Everything was a fail with the product basically and after considerable concern for safety and a general disdain for the pants, they were banned by the NHL. These days there’s probably not a single young hockey player who would know what you’re talking about if you mentioned the name Cooperalls. Maybe if some old timey guys still have them they will make an appearance in rec leagues around the country, but really, Cooperalls are a piece of forgotten hockey gear shame. A shame of style (and safety).
